Give thanks on Thanksgiving

I did not celebrate Thanksgiving in China. However, since Thanksgiving is such an important national holiday in U.S, I would like to say something before Thanksgiving comes. I want to give some thanks.

1. Thanks for my family. I am thankful to them all the time, especially after I came to Webb. Sometimes, I talk to my parents for several hours a day. I have my own trouble and my own concern that can only tell my parents. Everyone can cheat you, but our family will only protect us.

2.  Thanks for my teacher. They are so responsible and patient. They respect every idea of mine. They make interesting activities for me to do. I like our projects, researches, and essays. I get what I really want from my teachers.

3. Thanks for my roommate, Doobee. She is such a sweet girl. She is so quiet in our room. I felt very moved when she told me she had late night and went to sleep in the common room every night in case of interrupting me. She helps me in history. Every day, I borrow her history notes. She is polite and respectful. Although she likes music crazily, she never makes any noise in our room. She'a perfect roommate.

4. Thanks for my phone. Every day, I use my phone to contact and check emails. My phone provides me the chance to contact with people quickly and easily. Now using my phone is part of my life. I can't live without it.

5. Thanks for my books. I really improve my English through reading. I have made progress in writing through reading books. Also, reading an English book makes me know a lot about American culture. I will continue to read different English books.

There are so many things I want to make thanks, but these are the top five!

Thank you for reading!

Setting Goals

I like setting goals because goals make me have pursuits and not be fickle. At present, I have three goals, and all of them are about my daily life.
First, I will keep my room tidy and clean. My goal is passing the room inspection every time instead of getting strikes. I can have a good mood and feel comfortable if my room is tidy. I can find everything more easily when things are in order.
Second, I will try to go to bed by 11 p.m. everyday. I hate late nights. If I have a late night, during the next day, I will feel like dying, and my brain will not be working. I will feel tired for the whole day and cannot concentrate on anything.
At last, my goal is trying not to eat fried food from now on. I will keep away from French fries, potato chips, and fried chicken. These are such dangerous food that makes you gain weight unconsciously and be unhealthy. Although they taste really delicious, I won’t touch it in future.
These are my three goals. I trust myself that I can achieve them in this school year.

How the Jack-o-Lantern Got Its Smile

Doobee was a high school girl who enjoyed adventure very much. Once at night she escaped from her house, hoping to find something interesting. She went along the street in the darkness, but she didn’t fear at all. She walked and walked, ran and ran. She even didn’t know she had used how much time. At last she found a farmland growing pumpkins. As she thought that Halloween was coming soon, she immediately tried to pull out the biggest pumpkin and wanted to take it home. Anyway she couldn’t pull it out. She tried so hard, but the pumpkin was still in the soil although she was much taller and heavier than the pumpkin. She suddenly felt afraid because she had heard some scary stories about the ghost told by her parents on Halloween. As she thought about the stories, she saw every pumpkin spring up and had a big smile. “Ahhhhhhhh!” She screamed. “ What’s wrong?” Doobee opened her eyes. That’s her mom. She realized that she had been dreaming. “Nothing,” she said. “Happy Halloween!” Her mother said. That day was October 31, the Halloween. Then she found a big smiling pumpkin on her desk.

my time capsule

I know everyone will leave the world one day, but always wants to make something to be permanent, never disappear and keep lasting. So we make time capsules to realize this dream.
Maybe one day I can keep my own time capsule. I want to put a Chinese dictionary and a n English dictionary first. A dictionary contains all the words in one language or culture. As we know, if there is no writing, there is no history. The culture before that writing is invented is called pre-history. I believe writing is the best representation of one culture, and the most valuable writing I reckon is the dictionary. It records every detail of the words, including their pronunciations, their meanings, and even their origins. Chinese is spoken by 1/5 of the total number of people in the world, and has been developing since thousands of years ago. It is the wisdom of Chinese people to create every meaningful character. English is also a wonderful language as it’s the most popular one now. It’s spoken by people in a number of countries. The quintessence of both languages is in the dictionary!!
Another thing I want to keep in the time capsule is an autobiography of myself. I want to preserve my memories and my experience. The only way to realize it is writing. From my stories, you can find the situation of the present society. Of course, you can see the daily life of a common person, me!
I only wish to keep these in my time capsule to let people in the future enjoy.

ice cream~~~

Would you like to know my expectation for ice cream? Well, I want to create ketchup ice cream. I am not sure if ketchup ice cream is already existing somewhere in the world, but I have never seen before. Anyway, I believe ketchup ice cream will be fantastic! If I can make ketchup ice cream, next time when you want some French fries, you needn’t bring a bottle of ketchup. Just remember to buy a cone of ketchup ice cream. How wonderful it will be! Also, because the main ingredient is tomatoes, ketchup ice cream won’t be too sweet. Don’t worry about getting heavier and heavier after this amazing dish! Maybe sometimes we can put candies and chocolate on the ice cream. I hope it can get world best seller one day, and last forever.
I always have a dream to do something for the world. Maybe this is a good choice. If ketchup ice cream comes out, you’ll try it , right?

my job???

If I can choose a job freely, I prefer to be a student. Unfortunately that's not a permanent job, then I would like to be an engineer in the construction site.
Being engineers, my parents enjoy their life very much. They are both good at math and physics. So am I!! Engineering needs some logical thinking and knowledge about science. Though my parents sometimes work tiredly until midnight, but they never complain a word because they feel satisfied. I am impressed by their hard work and try to work as hard as they to realize my dream.
Also, there must be sense of happiness staying in my heart after finishing a work. It will encourage me to work harder in the future. I will feel proud when seeing a number of people are driving on the road or bridge I built.
I am dreaming to be an engineer. I hope it is not only a dream, but also reality in some years. Maybe you can see my work in your car while driving someday in the future.

Oh, this is me

I am completely confused about how to express my feelings at this moment. Actually, I never know, but I still want to say...
I fear loneliness, but I like quietness. I can’t even find out who I am, and how I am. You may find I’m stolid, but I’m not. I fear noise sometimes. It seems I am quiet, but I’m not.
What I love—there are a great number of things. I love hard-working most, but sometimes I can’t. I don’t know why. As for my hobbies, I like skiing, swimming, and piano. Skiing is my favorite because wind whistling from my cheeks gives me some passion. Oh, I enjoy math, really really enjoy.
I lost something important—courage. I am wondering when I lost it, but I couldn’t find. I lack courage so I can only be thinking.
I fear talking a lot. This is me. I don’t want to lose it though I need to change. This is me!
